Competition for the development of the Lithuanian pavilion’s interior exposition concept and its design services has been announced

Although the world exhibition “EXPO 2020” in Dubai has been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our country is consistently preparing for it. The Ministry of Environment is once again announcing an open tender for the development of the concept of the Lithuanian pavilion’s internal exposition and its project, its terms are already posted on the Public Procurement Office portal.

Contestants are expected until 10th of July to present conceptual proposals, accompanied with sketches and descriptions, preliminary calculations of material, financial and time costs. Jury will consist of representatives of contracting authority – Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for the preparation to the exhibition and public procurement, delegated architects from Lithuanian Union of Architects, Chamber of Architects and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, representatives of the Lithuanian Image Group, “Versli Lietuva” and an expert of the region where the exhibition will take place. Proposals will be evaluated taking into account their originality, informativeness and coherence, compliance with the themes of the world exhibition “EXPO 2020” and also Lithuanian pavilion, it should regard the main directions set out in the description of the creative task and, of course, will be evaluated by their functionality and feasibility. Attendees will be asked to take in to account the new hygiene and distance requirements arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, which may change and ease before and during the opening of the exhibition, but the exposition project should assess the main aspects of safe stay inside the pavilion.

Prizes will be provided for the winners of the first three places, and a contract will be concluded with the winner of the first place, for the preparation of the technical project required for the implementation of the internal exposition of the Lithuanian pavilion. The winner, while preparing the technical project, will be required to work closely with the Lithuanian image group, to integrate the essential Lithuania’s delivery strategies for 2020-2030, which are currently being prepared by order of the Government Chancellery.

The Lithuanian pavilion rises on a plot of more than 15 ares, provided by the world exhibition organizers. Architects inside of it has designed a multifunctional space for specialized small-scale events, a small and cozy restaurant, a souvenir shop, representation and administrative-household premises. However, the most important accent of the pavilion, which has to convey the message about our country to the visitors, will be the main exhibition hall, for the creation of which a competition is announced.

The world exhibition in Dubai – “Connecting minds, creating the future” – will take place from 1st of October 2021 October until 31st of March 2022.
